Compress from original massive file or "already compressed file"

My goal is to make a bunch of mp4 videos.

If I have exported a bunch of large mov files from final cut and already compressed them to smaller mov files... should i recompress the smaller ones or compress the originals?

Always compress from your master. Compressing and already compressed file can do serious damage to quality.

mov is a container, not a codec. There's a big difference between ProRes mov and H.264 mov.
Filie size is primarily based on data rate although some codecs tend to be more efficient than others.
A 110Mbps ProRes .mov and a 110Mbps H.264 .mov are equally massive.

Ok... so if I truly want to get this into an MP4 format, I have to recompress the master.

I don't understand why it's not streaming. I even checked to make sure the metadata is at the from of the file.

In case you're interested, here is the email that I sent to s3flowshield support with all of the pertinent file details:

I have uploaded everything to your specifications and I am having major issues.

1. The video plays on my iPhone WITHOUT SOUND

2. The audio plays on my computer WITHOUT VIDEO!!!!!

My URL is http://howtofightnow.com/flash-test

Here is a link to one of the actual files.

Your file itself plays fine from dropbox in their Flash player.

On your site though it's using FlowPlayer and it seems to be missing something although I can't quite tell what.

Here's the Flowplayer code instructions.

It might be a javascript issue.
