Compression trouble!
on May 2, 2013 at 1:36:18 am

Hi all,

I have a very large file that I need to get small enough to be playable on youtube. As the source material was hidef, the exported base file was 80+ GB (at only 50 minutes running time!). I have run it through compressor and at an H.264 setting have managed to get it down to under 10GB, which is still too large. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get it smaller than that without losing sync/widescreen/other attributes. When I run the already compressed 9GB file through compressor for a second pass, it also comes out a mess. I am working against a deadline and am fed up with fighting this file! Any help or advice would be sincerely appreciated. (Ps, I am using Compressor through Final Cut.)

Thanks!

File size is data rate times duration. Basic math.

YouTube data rate specs

If your account allows for video longer than 15 minutes, YouTube will accept up to 20GB

Please list your compression settings or upload a screen shot of the export panel.
