Maximum pixel width of a FLV - Exceeding 4320px wide
on Sep 23, 2012 at 11:28:06 pm

I am trying to figure out what the maximum pixel dimensions are for a FLV. There is a lot of inaccurate information on the Web. I understand that each codec has its own threshold/limitations, and depending on how I encode the FLV my answer will be different.

I am working on a video w@11 that runs on what some may say is a glorified web browser. That being said, I have been able to SUCCESSFULLY create (via Squeeze) a swf/flv with a pixel dimension of 4320x1276. The video was encoded successfully with both the Sorenson Spark and VP6 codecs, but neither one will allow me to exceed the 4320w threshold. I am able to stretch the video to a larger size without performance issues, but the quality isn't where I would like it to be.

My initial video (4608x1360) is a QT with animation compression, and I have been able to play a MJPG using Accusoft's codec, but I need a swf/FLV solution.

So, in a nutshell:

What is the FLV dimension threshold? And

What software will provide me the maximum size?

Thank you in advance to all you video gurus that will provide me all your video wisdom!!
