Extremely long h264 compression time
on Oct 7, 2011 at 6:22:30 pm

I have an 8 minute video to upload to YouTube and have tried a few of the suggested methods of compression. The file is 8GB ProRes 422 1440X1080. I want it to upload as 1920X1080 h264. When capture the footage to FCP I transfer it to ProRes via firewire but it doesn't change it to the 1920X1080. In compressor I select H264, restrict rate to 8000, resize to 1920X1080 and de interlace with best settings. I'm left with a 10 hour compression time on a new iMac. Any suggestions on how to speed up the process or better success with different settings for the same file type?

It's the 'Best" deinterlace settings that is killing you. Turn that back to normal and see how bad the compression time is.
