Trying to encode H.264 480p

I'm trying to encode avi uncompressed to h264 in 480p.

I'm using a composition 16:9 so.. when I try to reduce the size I lock the aspect ratio to 16:9 and change the height to 480, the width changes automatically to 853.

Well, I can encode in 360p, 720p, 1080p, but no success with 480p.

I'm using "H.264 Encoder", is free. http://www.h264encoder.com/

Any ideas?! I really need 480p and h264, I will try with ripbot and megui too while I keep looking for a solution.

[Thomas Hardy] " but no success with 480p"

I don't understand your issue.
16x9 480p is 853x480 which you have (although I prefer 854x480 since odd numbers aren't great for encodes).

I would generally recommend using MPEGStreamclip if you want a good free and widely used encoder.

Sorry, I've fixed it.

The issue was.. the math is 480 x 16⁄9 = 853.333…

So I've used 853x480, it seems like the correct resolution to encode in h264 encoder is 854x480, now worked like a charm.

Thanks for your help

So know you know, odd numbers aren't grade for encodes. Some, but not all, will reject odd numbers. Generally dimensions should be multiples of 4, 8, 16 (best).

This chart is good for most codecs.
