CUDA Battle - MainConcept Codec Suite 5.1 vs. Premiere's Mercury Engine

I'm using Premiere CS5 and have the Mercury engine GPU stuff enabled. When I export it goes much faster than when the Mercury stuff is disabled, this is incredibly clear as hours are pruned off the encode times.

Today I was informed by a friend that they use the MainConcept Codec Suite 5.1 plugins for Premiere CS5 which also uses CUDA for GPU-accelerated encoding.

Do you have any experience with this plugin suite or know of a speed comparison between it and Premiere's native GPU-accelerated encoding?

Thanks!

Do you have GPU that takes best advantage of CUDA such as certain nVidia cards?

I have a GTX 570, which is on that list.

I meant to say that I to am curious about this.

I had read that some are reporting that the CUDA enabled H.264 encoding has some quality issues

You mentioned the speed increase but, to clarify, I was wondering about which card you have and if you were asking because you noted quality issues (I assumed but could be wrong about what you experienced).

I'm wondering if the codec suite improved on the H.264 encoding.

Hi. I'll give you some more info:

I'm asking purely to compare the speed of each process. I haven't noticed any glaring quality issues when using the native Premiere GPU-accelerated encoding. It works fine. It encodes fast.

I want to know if MainConcept Codec Suite 5.1 is faster.

I have a GTX 570.

Currently I am havign problems with my MC when I upgraded to CS5.5 but before that I did some tests and it took 1/3 more time with MC.On the other hand they suggest to use MC sequence presets and I didnt. What I foudn though is that in SOME codecs its better to work with MC and switch to MPE when you are ready to render. To say it simply, in MC only the transitions are red while in MPE whole sequence is yellow and transitions yellow too.Ofcourse it depends on the material you are working with.
