I have a problem with sending mpeg2 to a tv station in india. i am capturing on a mac doing a hardware conversion in pal. then i encode using compressor, to a program stream. so when the material reaches them by ftp, they get some problems playing back the file. some problems include video jerkiness. i check the file on my end by encoded back for viewing purpose, and it looks fine. could it be that they are using a pc based system, and mine is mac?
No, all of that is pretty standard. I've used MPEG files out of compressor on PC DVD authoring. Hmm. They should specify the actual GOP length...but that's about all that's worth mentioning (and with CBR, it shouldn't really matter much about the GOP.)
I had a similar problem last year and it turned out to be an issue with making the Mpegs in Compressor - I had left the Frame Control setting in Auto, which AFAIK should have been ok, but there was an issue with flickering. I redid the conversion with everything else exactly the same but I set the field order manually and hey presto everything worked perfectly.
