Hello all it as if there is information overload when it comes to compression and settings. I’m still photographer venturing into video. Most of my videos will be short any where from 10 seconds to 2 minutes. I plan on using my hosting account on Godaddy to host the videos unless someone say I might be better using vimeo pro as my host and then just embed the videos in my web pages.
I’m looking for the best compression setting for web delivery the testing I’ve done for a 10 second clip yields about a 5-6mb file with minor artifacting but it does not play as smooth as I would like.
Here’s my set up
Mac Pro 12 core 16GB ram
Original files from a Canon 5D MK2
Edit using Priemiere Pro CS5
Exporting to H.264
704 x 396 (Do these numbers need to be divisible by 16?)
Bitrate Encoding to:
VBR, 2 Pass
Target Bitrate to 4
Maximum Bitrate to 4
This may be a dumb question, but is there a reason you're doing this by hand (setting those specific values) instead of using one of the presets? In Adobe Media Encoder (which is what you get in PPro) The h.264 category has some wonderful presets for youtube and vimeo.
