Thin grey dashes after Compressor encode?
on Oct 5, 2010 at 9:57:37 am

I'm using Compressor 3.0.5 to convert 1080i ProRes (self-contained from FCP) to 720p H.264

I'm getting thin grey dashes at the very edge of the bottom of the image. They vary in appearance (length) and appear intermittently.

These didn't appear with a Frame Controls off encode. They appeared in an encode where I changed Frame Controls to 'better' for Resize Filter and Deinterlace. But maybe this is coincidence?

Any help greatly appreciated as delivery for this project is within a few hours!

Just a guess, but resize it in settings rather than use the filter, I get a lot of similar problems with Compressor filters.

Good luck, hope it's not too late.

Thanks! Not sure if there is time .. but what do you mean by 'settings'? Do you mean in Quicktime?

No I mean the video settings in whatever codec your using, which you access via the inspector window

Thanks for the suggestion, but cropping didn't make a difference. It still appeared in the H264 file converted from ProRes.

Still keen to find a solution if anyone has any ideas?

The broken thin line (about a pixel or two tall) on the lower edge is very noticeable when viewing 720p footage, actual size, on a 1080 monitor or TV. Particularly during dark scenes.

What could be causing it?
