Animation quality that will play back!
on Jun 21, 2010 at 9:51:24 am

Hi,

I'm bouncing a piece of motion graphics that I've made that has some very dynamic lighting, using the Optical Flares plug-in. I love the animation bounce that I take out from AE, but my problem is that when I get to the section with the flares, the video stops and jutters.

I'm using 64-bit AE, on a 2.8 i7 iMac running Snow leopard.

I've bounced using ProRes 422, and it's good. But still doesn't come close to the presence, in terms of light and sharpness, of the Animation codec which I'd really like to retain, as these videos are for a big exhibition and will be played on enormous HD projectors.

Many thanks for your help as always! :)

The playback device will determine what your delivery codec should be. What will feed the signal to the switchers and projectors?

It will be played back on a Mac Pro, fed to a Spyder and then to the projectors......

Are you using Playback Pro?

ProRes will probably be your best bet. Perhaps you're seeing some gamma shift on your ProRes encodes out of AE?

no, I have the gamma corrected. It's just not as sharp or vibrant.....

not to worry, I think it will be good enough. It's just a shame when you see a clear difference with the animation codec......

many thanks...
