WMV in Adobe Media Encoder 5?
on Jun 16, 2010 at 5:03:57 pm

Hey folks,

Our company just won a crispy copy of the Adobe Production Premium CS5, and I've been a giddy little school child exploring all its niftiness.

However, there seems to be very little support on Adobe's site for Media Encoder.

Many of our largest clients INSIST on WMV delivery for their videos. Currently, we're using FLIP FOR MAC (the paid version so we can convert HD as well) and thats been doing pretty alright. But after some tests with the encoding/compression from Media Encoder, I would like to shy away from the likes of COMPRESSOR and QTP and use Adobe for the final deliverables.

Soooo.... can anyone shed some light on how to get WMV codecs for Media Encoder?

Current stats:
Mac version 10.6.3 (snow leopard)
Adobe CS5
Final Cut 6.0.6

First make sure Flip4Mac is upgraded to version 2.3.3.3
See if there's a way to access Quicktime Components in Adobe Media Encoder. You'll note that's how Compressor does it so Adobe may have done the same thing.

Thanks Craig,

I'm running Flip4Mac 2.3.3.3 (and all software updates are current).

Indeed you can access quicktime components in AME, but even when exploring the full spectrum of custom settings, WMV is no where to be found.
