Compressor Creates File too short
on May 4, 2010 at 6:46:28 pm

Hello All,
I have been using Compressor (3.0) to create an mpeg 2 file for DVD Studio Pro. The MOV file exported from FCP is 26 min 17 sec long. The audio is a little shorter, ends before the out point.
I extended the sequence. I just moved the out point down a few seconds, no video.

When I submit the QT file to compressor (SD, 4:3 NTSC) it creates the
audio and video file fine. I use the 90 minute Better Quality choices in Compressor.

My problem is that the compressed video file comes out too short!
The m2v file is 26 min 06 secs long, which chops off some of my closing title video. It also cuts the ac3 file to about 2 secs less than the m2v file. I purposely made the sequence longer to avoid having the closing title cut short (or so I thought). I must be missing something with Compressor???

Any suggestions on this one?

Thanks,

eric

[Eric Holzapfel] "just moved the out point down a few seconds, no video."

Did you fill the gap with a slug (section of black/blank?)

I did not fill the gap with a slug, but I did have that thought.
I was wondering if there was "no video" in a sequence that compressor might "compress" empty space.

I will fill the gap with a slug, and see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestion,

eric
