Hi all, like many others I wish to change the default Compressor setting for MPEG-1. MPEG-1 is compatible with almost any system so for viewing copies it's a great format - if it was not for the Compressor restrictions.
It would be great to have a setting for PAL/NTSC resolution (or something alike) with a higher bitrate. I found many post regarding this issue, all of them refering to manually change the xml setting file with Textedit. This is not really difficult, and the Inspector window in Compressor shows the changes correctly. But whenever I apply the setting to a video, it snaps back to its original setting, which isn't really usable.
I'm starting to believe Compressor can't be fooled, if it weren't for many people claiming to be successful with this trick. Others have the same issue as I have.
I'm hoping there is something to make this work for all of us. Perhaps someone can share a working setting, or explain what I am overlooking. I'm using Compressor 3.0.5 on OSX 10.5 and Compressor 3.5.1 on OSX 10.6 with many different settings and source files, all with no luck. On different machines we have Telestream Episode, MPEG-1 files proved to have great value to our clients.
