Compression Settings....

Client needs a WMV file of a 6 minute video and they are going to do playback on 42 inch TV from a laptop. They have an HDMI hookup and the laptop is brand new. Original file is 720p. Should we keep the window size the same as the original? I have flip4mac HD. Thanks.

What would be a safe bit rate to run the movie?

How long is a piece of string?

Seriously, do you think you provided anything like enough information for me to have given anything like even an educated guess?

They have requested a WMV file. It has to playback off the HD on a Laptop so they can output it to a 42 inch monitor. I do not have the access to the laptop other than what they told me; it was brand new and had a very fast processor. Basically I am looking for something safe to start out with. We can always redo after the fact. Will try to find out fast the processor is.

Generate some test files with rates between 2.5Mb/s and 7Mb/s. See how you go.

Just as a start for your information search, check out Microsoft's HD samples and take a look at the System Requirements. That should give you an idea as to what's needed to play HD Windows Media.
