End of h.264 video getting super-pixelated - workaround?
on Nov 17, 2009 at 8:00:26 pm

I'm using coming out of FCP 6 with the ProRes HQ codec and going to Sorenson Squeeze 5 compressing to the following specs:

It seems that at the end of every piece I do, about the last 1/2 sec gets ultra pixelated and loses definition. I would imagine this has to do with the I vs. P frames. However, these must be a way to get around this.

Thanks

Set your frame rate to 1:1 - there's no point in reducing frame rate these days, especially at that data rate.

Increase your keyframe rate from 60 to at least 150, 300 might be better still.
