on Apr 10, 2009 at 4:26:39 am

Hello,

If anyone can enlighten me on this I would greatly appreciate it...

currently, im using premiere cs3 and aspect HD to edit HDV footage..

when i output to DVD im using adobe media encoder..

my question is, are there better programs available to make the final DVD higher quality?? for example, the DVDs i buy seem so much higher in quality then the DVD's i make..

thanks.. for any help

[marc dejesus] "for example, the DVDs i buy seem so much higher in quality then the DVD's i make.. "

That's usually because the commercial titles are shot using much higher quality formats than HDV. Adobe media encoder is not bad at all with MPEG-2, what settings are you using, there maybe ways to improve your output.

thanks for responding...

for short videos. i usually do CBR at around 7

and for long videos, I do VBR 2 pass.. and tweak it depending on the length...

are there any other programs available that would output better than AME? for example does sorenson or even compressor hold any advantages??

thanks

Sorenson no. compressor on the other hand has far superior scaling and deinterlacing options, but these can increase your transcode time hugely.

You might want to look at Cinemacraft for compressor for the ultimate.

Ah, as you mentioned compressor I assumed you were on the Mac.

On Windows you could consider Procoder or Episode, both are excellent. Or CinemaCraft standalone if you have the time to invest in learning it.
