HD stutter convert

hello,

ok so my friend has this conon vixia Hf11. my software does not read the .MTS files that this camera makes so i need to convert them to either SD files or HD files my software can read.

i got a copy of xilisoft video converter and have been trying to convert these files. no matter what i do it seems like the footage stutters. i increase/decrease the size, biterate, frame rate, deinterlace, but all do not work. the footage still stutters.

it is shot in 60i normal mode. at what it says is 29.97. 1920x1080. should i be using a particular codec?

any suggestions?
thanks
e

If you keep the pixel size, aspect and frame rate the same, theoretically it should look fine. If all those are correct, the only thing that typically causes a stutter is having the field order reversed. So if you're using upper field first, try swapping to lower field first.
