I found this flash video on the web (link below), and I am amazed at the quality, and how fast it loaded. I viewed it on a pretty old PC, and it loaded and played fine, with no stutters or choppiness. http://www.vudu.com/product_overview.html
My question is, how were they able to do this? What kind of program / codec is able to produce such high quality video, while still being able to playback well on a pretty basic computer?
Vudu have some very bright guys on board, that's for sure. They've invested in encoding technologies and appear to know what they are on about.
The clip presented is certainly encoded from very high quality progressive source material, possibly using the x264 codec. It's highly unlikely that they used an 'off the shelf' application and if they did they certainly didn't use one of the supplied presets!
