exporting video files
on Jan 29, 2009 at 4:21:59 am

i am trying to take clips from fcp6 and export them. then take the exported files and convert them into a viewable format. then burn the converted files on to a disc just as files to be viewed on a windows pc. my question would be, what is the best format to convert them to after i export them from final cut to maintain quality and to be viewed on a pc?

PCs and Macs aren't that different, there are a bunch of different formats you could use. Is there something 'special' or lacking with the PC you are targeting?

If he has Quicktime installed (which he should if he cares at all about video) then use one of the Quicktime codecs like PhotoJPEG or H.264 or MPEG-4

If you want full screen and high quality give give him MPEG-2.

Otherwise you'll be getting into the complicated world or Divx AVIs or WMVs

No, you'd use compressor.
