I recently captured some mini-DV NTSC footage into my Avid. I'm trying to export now and I'm struggling when it comes to the best settings.
When I select "Same As Source" the footage looks clean and crisp but the edges are digital and pixelated - sort of like an interlace problem, though I've experimented with the "deinterlace" check box and it hasnt helped.
When I select the native settings for my project: DV/DVCPRO NTSC, the interlacing issue is gone but the overall quality is also way worse than the other quicktime. (I've been using Best Quality)
Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm frustrated.
If you use the setting "same as source" you must be sure that anyone who wants to view your movie needs that AVID codec. Unless you are working in native DV. Personally I like the H264 codec. But choosing your own perfect codec settings is much like cooking. Every time you cook your favorite recipe it becomes a little better. And remember better ingredients make a better meal!
