7 min. HDV to WMV in Compressor: 13 hours??

Hi guys,

In a bit of a bind here. I promised a client a WMV version of this project for review. It's HDV 1080i60, 7mins. long. I usually use Apple Compressor with Flip4Mac components, using presets I've already built (I have a 'Large' and a 'Small' for 16:9 material). I've never tried an HDV project before though and the timer is giving me some outrageous output times: 13 hours?? I ran a version through as H.264 and that only took about 15 minutes.

I also just tried to do a straight QT Conversion from the timeline and FCP froze when it got 10% done. What gives? Are the WMV formats just not able to handle this kind of HD? I've made WMV files before from DVCProHD material and never saw this problem...

TIA, JK

Mac Pro 2.66, 4GB, FCS2 v.02, QT 7.4, OSX 10.4.11

Have you tried an end to end?

Did it take as long as it guesstimated?

Encoding WMV is slow (on both Mac and PC) but not that slow.

Yeah, a 60:1 ratio indicates something is seriously wrong there.

What settings are you using in Flip4Mac? You've got the current version installed?

There's no chance you accidentally set something to run in PowerPC emulation mode, is there?
