bad audio quality with sorenson / flv
on Mar 1, 2007 at 8:15:50 am

hi!

i'm using sorenson compression suite 4.3.3 to convert fcp-movies (dvcpro50) to flv-files. the audio-quality of the flv movies is quite bad though i have 44.1 and a data rate of 128kbit. processing only the audio with e.g. itunes to a mp3 with the same data rate gives much better results.
is there anything that i'm doing wrong in the settings (i'm converting the audio out of fcp to 44.1 because of the 48er-clicks in sorenson) or is sorenson not a good choice? i'm asking myself if i should buy the 4.5 update - if it is worth the money?

thanks

Having to buy an upgrade to get a bug fix (the clicking problem you mentioned when the audio source is 48kbps) is one of the reasons I am not sticking with Sorenson. If you need to create .flv files, on2 makes a pretty good standalone product.

On2 bought and now distributes and manages the Flix products. Flix Pro is quite feature-laden when it comes to encoding FLV. Per other options, personally I really like the On2 encoding capabilities of Episode.
