Apparently this format was big for high end digital film transfers in the late 90's and kind of went away. I got a client now who can only provide me an animation in this file format. Is there a secure site someone can direct me to or info as far as where I can get a reliable form of this codec for the QTime player on MAC OSX? It would be for an FCP edit at HDCAM 4:2:2 1920x1080i
If you have a Decklink or Kona card, then you may be in luck as they support DPX to SDI I believe. Play the DPX out via SDI and either record it and then capture or loop from the deck to another station that can record the signal. Another option may be to open the DPX images in QT as a sequence and then try to export that an umcompressed QT movie. It has been a while since I last worked with DPX so I am a little rusty. Hopefully that will help.
Download the latest Kona driver (http://www.aja.com/html/support_kona3_swd.html), which will include a DPX to QT converter. If you have access to Smoke or Combustion, it can take DPX sequence and convert it to .mov or .avi.
Call me if you have any questions.
