Compressing 29.97 interlaced to progresssive

I have a 29.97fps clip that is interlaced. I want to make it a progressive clip so that when I recompress it for the web it doesnt show scanlines during high action pars of the clip. How would I go about doing this in FCP, Compressor, QuicktimePro, or after effects?

-thanks

Of those options, After Effects is definitely the way to go. You likely want to use an adaptive deinterlacer, and while QT 7's deinterlace filter is improved over previous versions, AE is still the better option.

How do I use the adaptive deinterlacer in after effects?

Its been a while since I used AE for preprocessing. I believe you need to use one the filters, but I can not remember which. Maybe someone with more experience can better answer this. I generally apply the deinterlace within the compression app like Episode or ProCoder.
