mpeg1 is pixalated on tv monitor

Hi everyone!

First of all I have to say that I am very new to the worl of compression.

I need to create a PC compatable MPEG of my 50 minute sequence, to be used as a video reference in a pc based dubbing suite.

I am using FCP5 version 5.02. I created an MPEG file using: MPEG 1, under New Default Settings in the Compressor. The Dubbing Mixer could open this file but when he watched it thorugh the Tv monitor the quality was reduced alot.

Also, this Mpeg took 3 hours to create and it was around 800mb.

Is there an alternative? Can anybody help please.

PS. The Dubbing suite cant play Quick Time files :(

Thanks

Zee :)

Mpeg 1 is a very poor option for video projected on a TV, but you could improve things some by encoding at 2 mbps which is almost double your current settings. For DVD quality you should use Mpeg 2 at about 6 mbps, but you will need to install a Mpeg 2 decoder (software player) on the playback system.
