WMV HD?
on Oct 18, 2005 at 10:00:35 pm

If I have Windows Media 9 Encoder on my PC and My client wants a WMV HD file 720p from a 1920x1080HD Project in FCP, Can I encode them using this software app. It is capable of encoding 1280x720p movies. What makes a WMV HD? Just the frame size? If that's the case I should be fine sending a 1920x1080 movie to the windows media encoder in avi or other acceptable format....am I right on this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes you can do this with encoder 9.

what makes it WMV is the codec and HD the HD resolution.

It will need an .avi to compress from, as it will not
open a quicktime.

You could use Flip4Mac Studio Pro, which can make WMV HD files on the Mac. Works in FCP as well as Quicktime Pro and Compressor 2.

Also, ProCoder on Windows can read QuickTime source files - that route works fine as well.

I find myself using ProCoder much more than Flip4Mac, as it encodes a lot more quickly, even when sharing the source file over Gigabit.
