choosing the right hardware for encoding

Hi there,

I want to ask if someone has experience in choosing the best hardware for encoding...I'm using the wmedia & real producer encoding command-line applications and would like to know if they gain speed using two or even four processors in a system or if there's any acceleration with the new dual core processors. Any experieces or benchmarks? Thanks!

A second real processsor is a big win, whether it's a dual proc or dual core. Going from 2 to 4 is another boost. A dual-dual Opteron would be the fastest thing out there.
