getting audio from a .VOB DVD file
on Sep 19, 2005 at 8:05:42 am

Hi All,
So I've got this DVD that was burnt on a home system. No copyright protection or anything. I've copied the .VOB file accross. If I rename it .MPEG it plays all OK with sound, but won't import into my Pinnacle Liquid Silver. So I took it into After effects and tried to re-render it out as DV. This works for the vision, but for some reason no sound is coming through. Tried taking the file into cleaner and exporting a .WAV .MP3 .AIFF but it seems to think there is no audio on this file.

Does anyone know a way I can get the audio? Is there software that will just convert the .VOB to a .WAV or anything!!! It's driving me nuts. Preferably free/shareware....this is a once off and I don't want to buy software to do it.

What you need to do is demux the VOB and then take the AC3 or MP2 audio and convert that to a WAV file. There are tons of apps that can do this stuff. Try videohelp.com for more info.
