Mpeg sizing properties
on May 16, 2005 at 3:48:40 pm

I made a 352 x 240 mpeg, played it in Media Player, checked properties and it verified it was 352 x 240, sent it on DVD to another video professional, he checked it on his PC and it was 320 x 240 and on his Mac 321 x 240. Any explanation for the difference? Anyone else have problems like this?

Thanks,

Kurt

The players are auto-correcting to the 4:3 aspect ratio, and reporting the displayed pixels, not the actual encoded pixels.

Everything is working fine - don't sweat it.

That said, when I make MPEG-1 for computer playback, I prefer to do it at 320x240 square pixel, so we don't have any of that scaling going on anyway.

That explains it. Thanks.

So is there a way to find out the actual size of a media file, and not just what the media player is displaying?
