Ideas on how to do this effect (Crumbled Paper).

Hi everyone,

I would like to hear your ideas about the best way to do something similar to this:







I think this was done with stop motion, like photograph and edit in Photoshop every part of the crumble process and then join all the frames to create the animation.

In fact I tried to do something like this, but the final result wasn't nowhere near as smooth as the example shown above.

What would you guys do or try?

If I find any more I'll reply. Stop motion would be a really good way to go. Then use track mattes.

I also agree that SOME of this was done in stop motion, but not all of it.

I could see where warping a layer using Freeform would work to enhance the effect. I also see feathered transitions on the layers as you might get with a feathered mask or with the use of a feathered track matte.
