Calibrating a Monitor
on Feb 28, 2011 at 1:32:18 am

So what is the best way to calibrate a monitor for motion graphics type work? Also what do I do if I have two different monitors and one is really hot and the other really cold?

Calibrate both monitors and they'll both be the same.

There are several different devices for monitor calibration that would do the trick pretty well - seeing as that's what they're designed for. Spyder's the one I've heard the most about.

Or you can go the poor man's route and use a THX optimizer. Most THX certified DVD's will have it on there. (You may need to get the blue filter glasses, they're cheap from THX.)

Or you can load a reference image onto both monitors and match them by eye.

Best option would be a professional calibrator, of course.
