I'm trying to achieve the following effect in After Effects:
1. I have an image (photo or more simple drawing)
2. I have about 50 names of people
3. The names fly into the image, one by one. All text is shown within some basic figure, like a rectangle or circle.
4. When all text is visible on the screen, together they build up (a simplified version) of the given image.
I want to show that the value of a certain company are the people that work in the company. So all the names together make up, for example, the building a the company.
Can anyone just give me a few pointers on were to start? Is there a tool in which I can break up an image into various simple shapes, and that each shape will be placed in a seperate layer?
It sounds as if you have committed to a somewhat less than fully developed idea of how this will look. Have you STORYBOARDED this idea of yours yet?
The deceptively simple practice of putting pencil to paper to previsualize will distill your thought processes and in the end save you a good deal of time, rather than jumping into the deep end, wasting a lot of time, and discovering that you may have been better off with Plan B.

Your probably a lot more experienced in AE than I am. I'm fairly new to all this and I just want to know if this idea of mine is "within reach". I have quite an clear image in my mind about this idea, but for now I just want to know if my idea is technically possible for a AE newbie.
If I hav the feeling it can be done, I can jump into the details.
