CS5 error. crashing
on Jul 27, 2010 at 2:10:46 pm

I am running AE CS5. When I try to open projects already created (either in CS5 or older) I get an error message and a crash.
The error message is:

"After Effects error: Not enough memory to initialize PSL."

I have 6GB installed.

AE 10 lets you designate how much memory to leave to the operating system. If you don't leave at least 1GB, you've got problems. And since you only have 6GB on your machine, using multiprocessing is out of the question. Turn it off right now.

I did try that, did not work. Still getting the same error message.
I tried all type of memory settings combinations. Disk cache on, off etc.
Either way, causes a crash. any suggestions?

Restart your computer. If that doesn't work, try trashing your AE preferences (hold Ctrl-Alt-Shift while launching the program).

Updating the OS fixed it.
