copy effects for all clips?
on Jul 8, 2010 at 9:23:41 pm

hi folks, right ive got a whole load of slit layers which i want to apply the same effect but dont wish to have to go to each and every split layer clip to apply the settings.

so is there a way to apply those settings to all the clips on the split layers without havign to spend near an hour doing it manually?

Sure, select the effect in the effect controls. Hit Command+C (copy).
In your timeline select all of the layers you want to have the effect
and hit Command+V (paste)

A quick way to select multiple layers in the timeline is to group them by color. Then you right click on the color group that you want and "select label group"

That will do it. And on your PC I believe the cut, copy, and paste shortcuts should be
Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C & Ctrl+V

I don´t know how is your setup or what kind of effect you´re applying but creating an Adjustament Layer on the top of the layer stack and applying the effect on it should do the trick for some effects.

And if you want to change something on the effect's parameters you can do it easily by changing the settings on only one layer.

Hope it helps in some way.

Cheers.
