Can I set an animation as a template and assign it to different vectors?
on Jun 10, 2020 at 7:29:08 am

Hi all. I have a number of vector people I would like to animate to make them walk, probably about 10 or so. Do I have to animate each one individually or can I animate one of them and then set this as a template and then assigned that animation to the others? I'm concerned that if I spend time animating them all individually and then I want to tweak the way they walk, I would have to tweak each individual animation. Any ideas?

Thanks,

It would be the other way around (from my experience) where you would leave all layers in one comp and toggle on/off for each character.
Now I am not sure how that would work in After Effects using different shapes and sizes.
I spent a great deal in Maya using the Trax Editor but 3D IK is a bit more forgiving than 2D Animation IK.

Sorry, what I meant was leave all appendages in one preComp.
Example, left leg, right leg, etc...
But again, the sizing and shape might be an issue.
