I have been trying to make this exploding pomegranate for a while but I just can't get the speeds of all the seeds right.

If you know of an easier way to do this please tell me.

Every seed is on it's own layer in the comp - as you can see they are not going at the right speeds. I have been messing around with it for awhile but it is just driving me bonkers and someone is paying me to do this - I am taking too long!

I would use a particle system to do that so I could easily change speed, number and overall motion. You'll get some difficulty on the bounciness if you use anything other than stardust that has physics. Trapcode particular has bounce but its very basic.

If you want to keep the by hand route you'll have to separate the X and Y so you can better control the motion curves.

I've never used a particle system i don't think... can i use it with the seeds that are already there? I thought a particle system created it's own shapes

I watched this exact video a couple nights ago - and this is basically the method I'm trying to use - it's just hard with so many different "balls" . I think part of my problem is i just don't have the patience for it. I'm going to give it another go tonight. Thanks.

Someone told me I should use motion sketch - I can't believe I didn't know about this! I redid it and it's much better - still needs some tweaking on the timing.
I tried to use a Particle system but don't have Trapcode Particular and couldn't figure out how to make a custom particle within the particle effects already in AE. Would be good to know if it's possible:)
