Best Practice to achieve this result in after effetcs

Ei All !

Yesterday i saw a video i would really like to replicate using after effects (the video description says it was done with a python script).

Maybe someone knows an AE script or a good best practice on how to approach this exercise, to get the result achieved in the video.

- Basically the video uses 2 random videos that are mixed. Frames from one video intertwin with the other until the end.

THANK YOU !

is there anything more than toggling opacity down and up every 2 frames?

From my experience, one would get a ton of complaints if that was used in broadcast.

Thank You Cassius, thank you for taking the time to answer.

I think that would do the trick. But i am looking for a more agile way to do this. Maybe using a couple of scripts i don´t know about. - So that the workflow is just faster.

I am imagining using the script to something like,

Script 1) Cutting footage in small clips.
Cut video A, in micro clips each with the same specific number of frames, then do the same to video B.
Let’s say the first frame of video A is A1, first frame of video B is B1; second frame of video A is A2, and so on;

Script 2) Sequence clips from both videos (maybe this part can be done manually relatively fast)
Then sequence like so:
A1B1A2B2A3B3A4B4...AnBn

You are waaaaaayyyyyy overthinking things. Just interpret your footage to half its frame rate if you want to see every frame. I'm not sure that was the case there, it just seems so because its slowed down. Thats what sells the effect on that example, IMO.

There absolutely no need to cut the clips into frames. Set two hold keyframes for opacity with 100% and 0% on the topmost layer with a loopOut(); expression.
