Joysticks and Sliders stops working when a keyframe is set
on Jul 29, 2019 at 12:50:17 am

Hey guys. So I'm pretty new to AE and I spent a lot of time searching for a solution and can't come up with one.

I've built a character rig for animation and I'm using Joysticks and Sliders for the mouth (Joystick) and eyebrow (Sliders) animations.

The precomps for the mouth and eyebrows are nested several layers in (Mouth & Eyebrows > Face rotation & Body Rotation > Body > Main Rig Comp).

Both the mouth joystick and the eyebrow sliders work in the main comp until I add a keyframe. Then they just cease to function.

The "face rotation" and "body rotation" comps are both time remapped with a stock slider and work fine in the main rig comp with keyframes. Is that possibly effecting the others?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been tearing my hair out with this.

I found a solution.
It was definitely the time remapping. When I turned it off everything worked normally.
So I instead rebuilt the face rotation using a joystick.
It wound up working better anyway. When I had it time remapped it was just the head looking left and right.
With the joystick I was able to add an up and a down so now I have a full range of movement with the head.
I can now add a bunch of nuance with how the head turns. Much better.
