How to rig a transition
on Apr 18, 2019 at 8:09:02 pm

I'm hoping I can get some input on the best way to go about rigging this transition so it is easily modified/modular. Essentially it's just a series of lines that wipe diagonally across the screen. Where it gets tricky is that they have a gradient on each of them. I currently have stroke lines pre-composed with trim paths and a ramp on each to get the gradient. The problem is the controls for each end up being really clunky and require me going deep inside of pre-comps to tweak key frames. I'm hoping someone has an idea for a more elegant solution. Thanks!

Hi Matt. I'm not too clear on a couple of things. Transitioning from what to what? Why and what are you precomping?

I'm using the lines as a wipe across the screen to hide a cut essentially. I'm precomping because if I move a line the Gradient Ramp Start and End values remain in the position, throwing off the gradient. Is there a way to tie the gradient values to the position and keep the 45 degree angle?
