Moving text around a corner
on Apr 4, 2019 at 9:33:10 pm

I'm having some problems trying to create an effect.
I want to take a line of text and have it go around a corner but as it goes around, the text bends at the edges. This is similar to how the news ticker looks on one of those buildings like in this video:

I am using this effect on a fixed picture, not on a moving event.

Do you know how to realise this in After Effects?

Thank you and kind regards

1. Create a regular comp TEXT for all your text.
2. Create two comps, LEFT and RIGHT, each at half the width of the TEXT comp.
3. Put the TEXT comp into both the LEFT and RIGHT comps, aligning the edges so they each reveal their own half of the original.
4. Create a new comp SCENE at your desired output size, bring your LEFT and RIGHT comps into it, make them 3D layers, and rotate/position them to meet at an angle. (Alternately, use CC Power Pin to distort them in 2D to make them look 3D).
