Footage Becomes Brighter in Composition
on Mar 25, 2019 at 1:27:17 am

I am in the newest version of After Effects CC. I have a Prores 4444 file. When I open it on it's own in After Effects, it looks normal. When I put it into a new comp, it is much brighter and flatter. It is almost as if the gamma has completely changed.

The comp is brand new, no effects added whatsoever.

Why is this happening?

Since your file is in 4444, does it have an alpha channel? Perhaps you are seeing its transparency when you put it in a comp.

I know you said it was a new comp, but is the project a new project? Is your color management/working space doing something else other than the default settings?

It doesnt sound like it since you said it looked flatter, but is the exposure turned up in your Comp view window?

When you say you opened it on it's own in AE, are you saying double clicked on it, and are viewing it in a footage window, and that it looks different when dropped into a comp with other elements?
