Media encoder H264 export with 'Export Audio' off, gives black video
on Feb 25, 2019 at 5:30:47 pm

I’m trying to export a Premiere CS6 Sequence to an H.264 via Media Encoder.
Since audio is not important, I unchecked “Export Audio” in the export settings.

The resulting video plays ok in Premiere but just shows black in VLC/quicktime/Windows Media Player.
As soon as I check “Export Audio” the resulting video plays fine in VLC/quicktime/WMP.

Thinking this might be a Premiere issue, I tried importing a DnxHD video file directly into Media encoder to re-encode it to H264 with no audio and got the same black video.

Could someone help me understand why this is happening?

Other export settings:
1920x1080 / 30fps / Square pixels / NTSC / profile: Main / Level: 4.2 / CBR: 5Mbps / Multiplexer: MP4

Many thanks

You could ask the Premiere Pro folks instead of the After Effects folks about this. That might help.

Thank you for copying thread to the Media Encoder section, Dave.
Not sure where my head was at last night!
