Cache folder in after effects
on Feb 7, 2019 at 5:30:18 pm

Hi, I edit with after effects and the main location of my cache folder is in my C: drive which is a 120 gb ssd. Now my SSD is at 80% full and has crashed my pc numerous times. So is it ok to put the cache folder in my spare HDD? And if so, would I see a drop in performance (preview/render speed) if I put the cache folder in my HDD?

It's usually recommended to put your cache on your fastest drive. Now, it's pretty cheap to grab a 256 or 512 SSD these days. I'd recommend just tossing one of those in your machine and using it for your AE cache drive. That's what I've done in my freelance studio at home and what I've gotten for all our machines at my full time job too.
