Element 3d - Lighting doesn't affect OBJ Sequence past certain point
on Jan 14, 2019 at 7:02:51 am

Hello,
I have exported a fabric simulation from Maya as an OBJ Sequence and 82 frames in the lighting stops affecting the object. Is this something that can be fixed inside of after effects or is it a problem within maya?

Thanks

there is a bug in element that causes this to happen. But the answer is not so clear. Try extending your lights beyond the edge of the timeline. shift the light far to the left in the timeline and continue to extend it and play with that...sometimes this will make the light work again. Does the lighting stop 82 frames from where you start or is it always the same 82 frames. are you also using element 3d preset lighting?

It has something to do with moving the layers (either the lights or the Element layer) from their original position or extending the time line after applying Element. For some reason Element doesn't like that. So you might be better off making a new comp with the final length and copying the Element effect to it and making new light layers with the same setting as the original.
