After Effects Sound Issue
on Dec 18, 2018 at 4:38:13 am

Hello!

I've noticed at times in AE that some sound files will cancel out others. In this particular case I have some characters talking in my timeline and when I hit RAM preview, I hear them loud and clear. BUT THEN, I added some sound effects and when I hit RAM preview it makes the characters track go silent.

Can someone tell me why this is happening and a way around it?

Thanks!

Sam

Welcome to the new audio workflow from AE :P
Yea there is no fix for that that I know of.
I sometimes go batty listening to multiple tracks.
I try to stick to one track at a time.

AE is a really lousy application for audio. You'd be a lot better off just using audio as a reference for timing your animations, then working with the animation -- no audio track on it -- adding & mixing audio as necessary in Premiere Pro. PP's better for trimming audio clips, keyframing audio levels, and assigning audio in logical tracks, e.g. anncr track 1, music track 2, sound efx tracks 3-5, etc.

I've not had that happen before. I agree with others that audio should be a rough thing to build from in AE and you should do your real audio work in Premiere or Audition, but what you're saying is happening shouldn't be happening.

What, exact, version number of AE are you using? I can try to recreate your issue on my end.
