Hi everyone, I'm looking to create the intro from this video:

specifically, the diagonal image wipe and what he used to create the oval that wipes across before the text and logo appears. I originally had tried to use masks for the pictures but couldn't find a way to reposition/scale the pictures independent of the mask. I'd imagine he maybe used a invisible shape layer and used that for the image reveals?

A couple of nested comps in there!

First, you lay out the images. Then you figure out the width & angle of the diagonal mask to be used on each image. Then you make the diagonal mask on ONE image, or use the same rotated solid (or shape; I prefer solids myself) and use it as a track matte in lieu of a mask.

Once it looks good in the main comp, time to make those nested comps. Select every other image (plus track mattes if you use them) and precompose them. Precomp the remaining images. Now it's an easy task to animate a mask vertically on each precomp. Or you can use the track matte trick again if you like.
