A skew on the old 'legacy' issue of opening older AE projects

Hey guys.

I am aware of the continual 'I need to open an old AE project in modern CC' threads but I have a slightly different skew on this.

I have an old AE file which actually does open up in my current (2018) AE but there are heaps of layers that have the legacy effect 'Fast Blur', all handily with expressions pairing them to other things. I see that Fast Blur was helpfully replaced by Fast Box Blur but I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on being able to unilaterally replace all Fast Blur effects with this newer one.

As I type I'm pretty sure there isn't as I see that Fast Box Blur has slightly different values within it.

Maybe I'm just wanting to grumble into the echo chamber of Creative Cow for some solace.

Jim

Ae ships with a script to swap out the old blur effects for the new ones.

Try File > Scripts > UpgradeLegacyBlurs.jsx.

Walter! I've just realised with horror that I've never thanked you for this advice! Thank you so much!

Better late than never!
