Change position multiple text objects, xx from eachother
on Oct 25, 2018 at 5:55:37 am

Hello everybody,

I'm busy with the template "Film Credits" (Videohive 9742628). In this template you have different slots with multiple text layers next and below eachother.

You can see in this image that not every textlayer has exact the same distance from the textlayer below or above him.
I want to replace all these textobjects so they have exact the same distance from other text objects.

I can not select multiple layers and change the x or y position of only 1 layer. If I do this all the selected layers get the same position.

Do I have to select every textlayer for changing the exact position of it?

Thanks from a learning Adobe After Effects user

For example;
The layers with their positions;
Textlayer 1 = 0,0 , 100,0
Textlayer 2 = 0,1 , 105,3
Textlayer 3 = 0,0 , 109,5
.....

All these layers must have the same x position (0,00) but the y position from the first layer must be 100,0 and needs to be add up with 5 every time. 100-105-110-115-120 etc.

Is there an easy way to do this?

Sander

There's likely a reason they are in separate text boxes, but it would be much easier to do if they were all in one text box, you could just change the line spacing and you'd be done.
After Effects multiple layer alignment and distribution is described here: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/selecting-arranging-layers.html (scroll down to "Align or distribute layers in 2D space"). That may also resolve the issue.

Thank you Kalleheikki Kannisto,

Working with only 1 textbox is much easier. If I start playing the template, there is nothing different with working with multiple textboxes.

I don't know why the maker of the template used multiple textlayers.

Thank you!
