Chicken or Egg?

I've a clip (HD, mov, 29.97) that needs to be slo-moed (using Twixtor), but it needs a little bit of stabilization too, most likely in Mocha.

This got me wondering as to which should be done first? Might there be any +'s or -'s depending on order?

My advice: use Twixtor first. The less you have to alter the speed, the better the rendered clip. Rendered in a fine intermediate codec, of course.

When you are satisfied with the clip, stabilize away.

The reason for this order: Twixtor generates new intermediate pixels to create the motion. You need to double-check the result to make sure it's right.

AE, on the other hand, distorts pixels to stabilize. You might as well start with pixels you like before you start distorting them.

That's what I would do.

That's pretty much the way I was leaning. It's about a 2-2.4X slowdown so not that drastic. Kind of wanted to see how much that smoothed it out first anyway so might not really need to stabilize.

Thanks dave.
