Adding a mask to my pre-comp negates the adjustment layers inside it.

Inside a precomp I have a colorama effect on an adjustment layer along with a few other layers. In a Master comp, I've placed the precomp and turned on CR so that all the layers underneath in hte Master are affected by the colorama effect. Now I want to animate a circular mask over the precomp so that all it's layers, including the adjustment layer effect, are masked at the same time, but whatever I try negates the colorama effect.
So far I've tried:
- applying a mask directly to the precomp
- applying a circle effect on the precomp
- using a separate layer as a track matte

Is this a known limitation of precomping adjustment layers? Are there any work-arounds?

Thanks
Andrew

Its the continually rasterize button that's causing the "issue".
What about just putting the colorama effect on each layer in the precomp and linking the effect's values to a master effect via expressions? That way when you change one you change them all.

the colorama effect is to affect the layers in the Master comp not the precomp so linking via experssions won't work.
Thanks though.
